I wanted to write a review after just returning from a fantastic 4 night stay here. I was a bit apprehensive after reading a few negative reviews but honestly I'm not sure why anyone would have a negative experience. Staff were very friendly especially the staff at breakfast. Breakfast was lovely with lots of variety on offer. You book your time slot but that was absolutely fine. It was not overly busy as some reviews suggested. Our room was a superior family room which was a good size for the 4 of us. Kids said the sofa bed was very comfortable. The area is great. 10 minute walk to the train station &15 mins to Tvolli Gardens. There are lots of great restaurants literally minutes from the hotel. Would definitely recommend Mother pizza & Gazza Grill for food. Overall, I have no issues highly recommending a stay at the Scandic Kodbyen.

While the location and building are nice, my experience with the staff has been horrible. I won't be recommending this place to anyone and would highly recommend choosing another place that has a modern perspective on customer service. Perhaps other people have a more favorable impression, but the recalcitrance and lack of understanding have been pretty archaic and counterproductive.

Incredibly clean. Hip. I was very happy with this hotel and I have fairly high standards with hotels. In fact- I was angry at my husband for randomly booking it. We had a recommendation for Tivoli Hotel and he booked this instead (we book ended a trip to Paris with a night in Copenhagen on both sides). We stayed here on the way and I booked Tivoli on the way back. I literally had to eat crow and tell husband he was right and I was wrong. This hotel was better than Tivoli in every way. I would recommend it and stay here again.

The staff and room were pleasant enough but we were disappointed with our stay in general. Basic things seemed to come at an extra cost. There was no kettle or access to tea or coffee in the room and it was an additional charge to get a cup of this from downstairs. There is NO free facility to leave your bag at the hotel before checking in to your room?! I thought both of these things were bog standard in the Hotel industry. There was no English Channel on the TV and subtitles didn’t work so don’t bother switching this on. You also have to book in advance for breakfast but it doesn’t matter what time you book as it is heaving most times and I don’t believe many other people book. We often selected a slot that had 90+ spaces left, got down to breakfast and there were 1-2 tables left to eat at. The prices of drinks at the hotel (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) was also astounding. Some positives: the selection and freshness of food at breakfast was nice. Liked the feature of games to play at the reception bar area. Good central location, close to metro and shops / restaurants. Overall, the stay was average and not what I expected for the price I paid.

Rude and non-friendly staff in the reception, something I experienced many times in this hotel. I followed Scandic´s (ridiculous) cleaning policy of letting the reception staff know the day before that I would like to have my room cleaned and as many times before, in this hotel, it was not cleaned. The reception does not have a better excuse to blaim the cleaning staff, they do not work as one team in this hotel and it must be something very wrong with the management set up!!
